HOW WE PACKAGE & SHIP OUR PLANTS
While our plants are all started in the greenhouse, we take them outside to "harden off" for a few weeks before we start shipping. We believe because of this we've never had a single plant die during transit. We even had a plant find its way back to us after 7 days in the mail, and it survived and thrived!
We wait until shipping day to package each herb. We thoroughly soak each plant before shipping and then carefully package each with a small poly bag or plastic wrap secured around the pot to contain the soil. Then each pot is wrapped in newspaper. We've found this is the best way to retain enough, but not too much moisture during transit. It also helps by keeping the stems & leaves stable to avoid excessive damage to them. We choose each shipping box based on the number of plants orderd so there is no "wiggle room" during their journey.
We only ship plants on Mondays & Tuesdays via USPS Priority Mail to ensure they don't get stuck in a mailroom or mailtruck over the weekend. (We have found USPS Priority to be less expensive than UPS or FedEx). Orders placed on Tuesdays through Fridays will usually be shipped on Mondays. Orders placed on Saturdays through Mondays will usually be shipped on Tuesdays. This assumes payments have also cleared.
Because of our low tech, yet highly successful shipping process, we pass the savings along to you in the price of our plants!
